I think the litmus test here might be to look at what cars are in the front line of the valet parking spots......
To my knowledge I haven't seen a Cadillac in that type of spot in years in 25 years( with the rare exception of an Escalade here and there)
Thye are usually more crowded with S class Benz..7 series Beemers...and Exotics...and few Audi A8;s , Hummers, a few Porches's..etc
I myself don't really see an elitist aura around a Cadillac...I read the file from the owners manual of 1989( posted earlier)....however during that period where I grew up...Dallas Texas...Mercedes Benz and BMW's were by far the cars to have/what the elite drove
So Cadillac = elitist...I say no way
