There are a few thousand Phase-I Allante owners that would like you to succeed, it is said that becoming a rocket scientist may be easier.
At one time I did considered replacing the visors, map light and rear view mirror with a Phase-II assembly .. the Phase-II dont have this issue. But cheap they are not. As long as one keeps the latches it be fine.
Which brings me to my other brainstorm idea .. if one installs the Phase-I latch receivers onto a Phase-II car, one could either use a Phase-I or a Phase-II hard top .. except, I dont know if the Phase-II hard top cars have the mounting plate for the Phase-I receivers.
