You can hear horror stories about any make or model.
I've owned two Corvettes over the past 10 years. The first was a '98 C5 that I had for 8 years. Absolutely zero problems. My current Corvette is a '06 C6 that I've had for 2 years now. Only problem on this one is the recall on the roof (they tried making the removable roof of a lighter composite material and hand problems with the glue bond to the roof frame. They switched back to the same material as the C5 and have had no further problems.)

I'd suggest that you not buy the extended warranty at the time you purchase the car. Whatever miles/years you purchase start at the time you buy the extended warranty (they are not added to the end of the existing factory warranty). Instead, purchase it shortly before you reach the lesser of 12 months or 12,000 miles. GMPP prices increase after these points. By delaying, you gain the 12 months/12,000 miles. Further, shop around. Prices on GMPP vary greatly and you can frequently get a better deal from dealers that "specialize" is selling GMPPs.
