I have never gone over 40 miles with the low fuel light on, probably not even that far.
I usually watch the trip odo and look for gas around 180 miles.
It gets close to 50 mpg regardless of how you drive it  |
my 86 honda vfr700 has the same setup...it holds5.1gallons in total, with a 1.0 gallon reserve, which is when the light comes on....back when i commuted on the bike i got cute and left the tank switch on reserve and thought i would use the light as my only indicator for when it was time to refuel....bad move...luckily i was only a mile or so from a gas station on a secondary road when i discovered that was a stupid idea.
depending on my driving style/speed, i get any where from 43 mpg to nearly 60 mpg (no joke) on a steady ride on an interstate with keeping it at 60 mph...love that bike...
