Re: Older Cadillacs You Have Owned

Well my love of Cadillac started at age 10 looking at those beautiful Cadillacs when passing the local Cadillac Dealer. Grandparents friend had a 76 Deville, which was all white. I loved the first time I went with them for a day trip yard saling. Seems like there were 9 of us in that deville remembering back. So started my love. First two cars weren't Cadillac's, but my love resurfaced in 1996 when I purchased my first Cadillac. Life began that day!!!

1) 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham D'Elegance - Champagne Color with matching D'Elegance velour. Had nearly every option except leather, alarm, and cb. I purchased it with 101,xxx miles. I loved that car. It was like riding on air, and its short life with me it never had a chance to be dirty or dusty. Misfortuned struck about 4 months later, when a fuel line burst near the engine. Inshort, the car burst into flames and was a loss. I was devistated to say the least. My dream really went up in smoke. My grandad helped in seeking another car, which I was in need of.
2) 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham - Not nearly as luxurious as the previous, but this black beauty with blue velour was a nice replacement with just 97,xxx miles. Was a great car the four years and 19x,xxx miles I added to the odometer, when it finally died. I had to start my quest for another great car. PASSING UP a 1980 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham D'Elegance Coupe I invested my money into my third Cadillac.
3) 1975 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham - in what the owner called Gosemore Blue my third Cadillac only had been driven 43,xxx miles. This big automobile was a dream come true for me. I always loved the mid 70's Cadillacs, and now one was mine. This great car is still in my possesion with around 76,xxx miles, but it has sat for 4 years and is in need of some TLC. The interior is great and the body is fair, with just rust scabs. Engine and tranny were great, but carb needs attention. I hate to loose her, but would consider selling her to someone that can bring her back to life and enjoy driving the car as much I have.
While owning this 1975 Brougham, I ventured down other avenues of Cadillacs for daily drivers, allowing the 75 not be used as much. My first venture was..
4)1990 Cadillac Brougham - purchased with 97,xxx miles. This all red Brougham with a 350 Chevy engine and throttle body fuel injection greatly improved power over the old 307 Olds engine in my two 86's, but gas mileage went the other way. Was a great car until I sold it in early 2006 with just over 154,000 miles. Still ran great. Now, with the 75 stored safely away and the 90 as my daily car, I sat out to get my wife (now ex) a smaller Cadillac. I never really liked front wheel drive, but I thought maybe for her would be better. Never thought I would actually like it, but #5 was on the way.
5) 1995 Cadillac Sedan DeVille with 113,xxx miles on the 4.9 V8. This car has some power and looks awesome with after market 1/4 cream roof to match the cream leather. Aftermarket lower body chrome and loaded with many extra options. When we parted ways, she took the car and drove it til she gave it to her sister and brother in law after their car died. They are still driving and loving the Cadillac ride!!! I last knew it was topping the 150,xxx mile point.
6) 1999 Cadillac Deville with 97,xxx miles has been my daily driver since I purchased it in 2005. I have been impressed with the power and performance. Gas mileage is great for a 'large' car. Lot's of fun toys and options make it hard to leave it set, which show now topping 135,xxx miles in just two years. She is a great car and I love to drive it. My love for large old Cadillac's with their traditional American soft and slushy handling and ride has gotten the better of me. I have been search for nearly 6 months for another great Cadillac. My love of the large Fleetwood is also calling.
7) ????? 1965 Fleetwood 60 Series could be #7. In Georgian Silver and only 81,xxx miles it looks like that it could be the winner. It is not as well optioned as I want, but want I want isn't really surfacing at all. I would like a 1966 Fleetwood Brougham with the folding desks in back, Cruise, auto dimmer, twilight sentinel, heat padded seats, and all the toys. Only one surfaced, but distance and price really stopped me. So, a 65 Fleetwood makes for a great alternate choice. The car has only traveled 1200 odd miles in 12 years.

So there is my list of Cadillacs. Not many as some, but all are or were great for me!!!
