Sounds to me like they are being greedy. I live in a tourist driven community and feel tipping is important. I always start with a base of 15%, I don't leave $1 per drink cause I never get a refill. If they do their work with a smile I increase it to 20-25%. If you left a $7 tip on a $15 tab and they are complaining you need to find somewhere else to eat (unless you are overly demanding). |
