In the original she was at risk of doing to her little girl what her mother did to her. Older and wiser she stopped it before it got that far and that's what the song was all about. I don't get this version at all although I do like this version more than the original.

eh, I can't compare the original with the song cause I'm not a country fan too much.
but comparing the videos, I love the original better, it has a better story line, the vid in the orig goes deeper into the song than this one, which only looked at the top layer of the lyrics
