About a year ago, our Chief wanted a "command vehicle". I wish I'd had this video to show the Board. They still have not bought it. There's better places for the money than that.

The fire SUVs have a rationale, you know. When firefighters arrive at an incident, they don't rush in blindly! The first thing is to check the situation: are there people trapped, is the extent of the fire maybe bigger than what is visible from the front side of the building, and so on. Only after that, the officer gives the appropriate orders to his men. So it's not a bad idea for him to arrive first, and that's why he has his own car. That's all.
