I agree with you that the original version is best... it seems like the CGI will become dated in 10 years, while the original 60's version will be timeless (will look dated campy but in a good way).

i agree with your comment, but did you know that shatner was a shakespearean actor? kinda ironic eh?

Maybe i was a tad extreme in the last post, but you just have to let things stay in their own time period (a moral lesson STAR TREK taught us all lol). You can't just say we need to make Shaspeare more modern and change them all to modern settings, or that The Beatles and their music should have modern hip-hop rhythms and harder, modern guitar riffs and emo vocals digitally inserted to digitalize it.
Sure, you can do that but then you aren't reading Shakespeare or listening to the Beatles.

The new graphics are disturbingly out of place with the original show. The changes haven't even been that great either, and many times they've just made the show look/ feel more like TNG and Babylon 5 than STAR TREK.
If you dpon't like it in its original incarnation, you don't like it at all.

yeah i agree to, why not? it doesn't hurt anyone. and if people don't like the CGI they can easily buy the old version.

I agree with you 100%, but it is still cool to see some of the remastered images. It makes something old look more up-to-date, and more real in some cases. As long as the story isn't changed, and if it is done right, then why not?
LTstudios (August 9, 2008 at 1:36 am)
agreed.
but then again it's pointless to do this to star wars because there effects look fantstic now. while star trek (the original series) doesn't really hold up. but i prefer the old version. it just give the real feeling of a 1960's t've sereis. nothing is more 60's that star trek.

even though i disaprove of people stuffing cgi into old things just to remarket something. i am interested into what it looks like. |
