ChampCar Spring Training 2007, part 1

Video clips from the final day of Champ Car World Series pre-season testing for 2007, held March 10 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Part 2 will consist entirely of clips from the standing-start practice session. Interestingly, the Indy Car series on March 7, 2008, reported this video to YouTube as belonging to them. I shot and edited all this video. Yes, it does contain ChampCar logos, which are now owned by Indy Car, but c'mon! Well, at least their policy is set to "Allow", so the video can stay up.

I'm going to miss those turbo's. I drove all the way down to Long Beach to hear them one last time. Hopefully Tony George incorporates the DP01 chasis, the turbocharged engine, and brings down the oval racing to atleast 50-50 with road courses. In my opinion, the less the ovals the better it is. Basically I just want everything to go back to the CART days.

i agree with celpabedn... champ car and F1 are a lot more alike now with the higher nosecone, standing start, paddle shifters, and the tire system with the harder and softer compounds

There has been nothing published saying that the engines will be badged as Mazda. The 2007 Champ Car Rule Book calls the engine "Cosworth XFE 4 cam 90 degree V8 four cycle overhead camshaft engine". Mazda will supply the pace cars as the Official Vehicle of the Champ Car World Series. That's all that has been said.

engines are the same, made by cosworth, just now badged as mazdas.

They've also switched to the FIA's flag system. The Devil's in the details.

The new car is not as dependent on its wings for its downforce, which should improve overtaking. But yeah, Champ Car seems to want to be more of an international series to get away from the conception of being an American series. How much of that is an attempt to make it distinct from the IRL is a question...

Looks like they are taking the F1 approach, higher nosecone, standing start, i am an F1 fan, but i also like Champ car because its different, they should stick with less aero grip and more mechanical grip for easy overtaking!!

Bravo friend, I was hoping someone captured this.. History was made! Now I really can't wait to see Champ Car on the Euro tracks. Thanks a million.
