Fender will almost never put a double octave neck, thats why they growl, they have personality. I test drove an SR500 and got bored, they are ugly too. I agree with what you are saying about Fender electronics, they are not perfect, but hold more potential than any other bass. I put a Warmoth Neck on mine, Bassline Preamp, and ultrajazz pickups on my jazz bass, I mostly play blues and jazz. Dirk Lance Plays a Warwick coincidentally.

necks are better on the SR500 than 'wicks. I like fender stuff too but only when its all passive, not when they throw in a preamp. The Bartolinis in the SR500s are awesome (i dont like the 505, neck feels too unstable) so if you're having tonal issues, you're either equing it wrong or you need to change your strings.

you're right about the personal taste factor, but this bass really does give some amazingly warm tone depending on how you set the EQ. I've played many fenders, and a pretty nice warwick, but personally i love this ibanez through and through, i intend on getting it eventually.

Thats because you are comparing it to a schecter I had this bass 5 string and I did not like it. I got a Fender Active Deluxe and did a few mods to it and it is amazing. I have a Warwick Corvette too. Maybe I just dont like the dead ton ibanez gives you because I play a lot of Jazz and Blues. Whatever works for you bro

this bass as acceptional. I have a schecter diamond series bass, and still look at this one all the time, this is amazing for it's price, and one of the favorite basses i've ever tried
