Kind of. It's the world following Symphonia. There are lots of connections. Places, people, things, etc. It's not quite like FF since well, the FF games have absolutely no connections other than things that are simply common throughout all the games.

ToP has some small connections to Symphonia, but they are seperate worlds. Kind of like the final fantasy series

First one ever made. It was released on the SNES. This is the intro from the PSX re-release. Storyline-wise, Tales of Symphonia was before Phantasia.

It first came out for Famicom, but most people don't have that. There's a PSP version, a PS1 version, and a GBA version. As for the quality of the game, it depends on who you ask.
