Global Pulse: Biofuel - Another Flawed Policy?

See http://linktv.org/globalpulse (November 1, 2007) President Bush promised to expand American biofuel production, but the result has been worse than nothing. Corn is a poor source for energy, but growing it and other staples as fuel has caused food prices worldwide to explode - even as the scarcity of flex-fuel vehicles means no significant increase in U.S. biofuel use. Now the U.N. is worried about rising food costs, while environmentalists see entire regions torn up to grow fuel crops. The great ethanol boom of 2007 goes bust, this week on Global Pulse. The United States of America needs a FEDERAL MANDATE on BIO FUELS. Force competition at the pumps and we will not need subsidies. A mandate will guarantee profits by increasing production of Flex Fueled vehicles (including NG). It is only in the interest of America's enemy's that we not have a mandate on FUEL CHOICE. The stickers on apples are mandated! T.Boone Pickens also supports BIO FUELS. Please support the "Open Fuels Standards Act".

Would a fuel station have an E85 pump for a car only 3% of the people drive? The fuel standard is the reason for this subsidizing in the midwest. What is your argument? Your knowledge is old and your perception is dotty. If you are not a U.S.A. citizen and offering your censures here then please, in the words of Les Grossman, take a step back from the monitor and fuck your own face.

HedgeHocker, Do you even know why anybody is really even pursuing the production of bio fuels. BECAUSE IT"S GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIZED. If the Government wasn't subsidizing ethanol furls then nobody wopuld be even trying to make them. WHY? BECAUSE THERE"S NO MONEY TO BE MADE FROM IT. Biofuels are a joke and they always will be.

LOL, you're an ASS. Re-read it. We aren't going to have to stuff our groceries in our gass tanks to use BIO FUELS! Noone will starve and we'll still have dog food (with grains) at a good price. BIO FUEL does not have to be made from corn ..that's just what we have been making it from in this country as of late. AcomsRazor1776, you fuck twit.

What do you think beer is made from dip shit. Wheat, barley, and other grains such as corn.

Thanks to America, this world is going from crisis to crisis.
lostinseganet (August 8, 2008 at 10:18 pm)
...just buy it from brasil??? What about energy independence.
HedgeHocker (August 4, 2008 at 9:02 pm)
"Has gone terribly wrong." -haha, what bullshit. Ethanol can be made from BEER! Think of how many people would starve with a lack of beer or higher beer prices. Think they'd straighten that out if it were crisis? Damn right they would and quick. The facts don't support the argument in this video. We pay people not to grow crops in this country and we use less than 10% of our farmlands. Consider supporting a Flex Fuel mandate! Bio fuels can be made from any bio mass. hmmm

This is BIG OIL PROPAGANDA. Search Bio Fuels + Dr. Robert Zubrin on YouTube. Support a mandate that all automobiles sold in the U.S. are to be Flex Fuel capable. In who's interest is it to not have a mandate on Flex Fuel vehicles? Google hosts an excellent speech by Dr. Robert Zubrin for those of you really interested in the other side of this argument.

agreed, the whole food as fuel idea was so stupid. It really doesnt take a genius to have predicted what would happen.
