You misunderstand him. The shadow was being cast of a three-dimensional object (the cub) across a two-dimensional plane (the page). This happens everyday, can be visually observed in the video and is most certainly a physical possibility.

If there are only 2 dimensions it is not possible to have a sun projecting at an angle to create the mentioned shadow in this video. Sagan admitted privately that marijuana influenced many of his concepts. I'm not saying he's wrong. He's on to something, but I think he zigged when he should have zagged.

What a procured, well-spoken message... unfortunately I won't see his point until I see it for myself. Right now it's just relativistic, not something I'd particularly entertain, because you could claim anything to be possible that way, and I'm not one for entertaining just anything. The universe has shown itself to be quite limited to me, and I think I'd see something outside the pattern of logic by now if it weren't.
