Continental knitting demo

Jennifer Ackerman-Haywood, host of the CraftSanity podcast, visits Lorilee Beltman, owner of City Knitting in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for a quick "Continental" knitting lesson. As a veteran "thrower" or English style knitter, Jennifer didn't want to pass up the opportunity to see how the other half knit. She brought her video camera along to record the tutorial for all of you.

Goll darn it! I have been looking for an easy way to purl using the continental method. You clearly explained what I had been doing wrong and know I am purling! I am so excited. Once I practise a little more, I should be up to the same speed as my knit stitches. Thank you!

Wow! I've always been a thrower, but since I've discovered continental knitting with this video, I'm stuck on continental.

Your demonstration and style have enabled me to knit continental style. I have tried and tried with other instructions but yours works!! You give tips that are essential. Thanks you

I have "trigger finger" on my right ring finger and this method is really clearly explained here and I think it may actually allow me to continue knitting. Holding the yarn is the trick and here it is shown.

You guys make it seem so easy. Its a really good video i have to admit. How many stiches or styles of stiching are there. I know that knit and the purl but are there any more? I you could please make a video of different stiches it would be wonderful. Thanks

great video. great tutorial. I'm just learning the 'knit stitch' in the 'traditional way', but I'm definitely interested in the Continental! Very well done ladies! Keep up the great work. Can you please make an introductory video about 'casting on' and getting started in the continental! WELL DONE!

This is a top notch demonstration by a professional knitter! The demonstration is excellent and the explanation for each recommended step (how to hold the yarn, etc.) is clear. Other knitters are well-intentioned and their efforts are appreciated, but this instructor will help you get started knitting continental by clearly explaining the "why's." Thank you!
