Because it's a world oil market, "Einstein", we're not the only nation using oil, virtually every industrialized nation is steadily increasing their usage, most notably China and India who have been expanding industrially at exponential rates. Industry = oil. The favored mode of transportation in China right now? Big, fat, American manufactured SUV's. Buick has better sales numbers there than in the US.
