The idea of a creator stems from our prehistoric ancestors. They saw that they can create tools, huts and fire. So, something HAD to have made them, and to stay safe, they should make offerings to this god. As our intelligence evolves, we will move away from the god delusion (which is why the smartest of people tend to stray away from GOD). But, if our national IQ is dropping, then we are all doomed. We will be run by religious fanatics until our gene pool is infected with intelligence.
