well fortunately for people who like actualy good music, there's an extencive back catalogue of artists and music to reach for from the past... thats what i do...im completely oblivious to new material because 99% of the time i know it will stink

metal music is not alone...most genres of popular music resort to making the same material over and over...same with the film industry...bottom line is, the studios need money to get paid, so they will try to sell a proven product...like trite music, and lame films with cookie-cutter stories.

nowadays its just metal by numbers... 1. you have to have a breakdown 2. blast beats obligatory 3. all your rythm lines have to be a pile of scales played at random 4. the singer is not allowed to actualy sing, producing a sound like a shot bore is mandatory 5. no writing cool lyrics anymore, it has to be about being abused as a kid, hating the world and murdering someone its ALL THE SAME...watching Headbangers Ball makes me upset every time...and i havent listened to radio since 1997

Thank you so much for the back up. I hate all that shitty, whiny rock that's been done to death over the past eight years or more. and another thing where are all the traditional guitar solos? which brings me to the point of why I hate the radio and the new music that plays on it. I remember when CORGAN used to do solos in his music. you don't get a lot of solos from bands like fear factory but they got something unmerciless about them and I think that's okay. Sorry when I get going, that's it.

gotto keep the spirit of true metal/rock alive...nowadays its so warped and distorted with a flood of rubbish bands who all scream and growl their heads of and cant write a good riff to save their life

you can check out Down, Corrosion Of Conformity, Artimus Pyledriver, Scissorfight, Clutch.... they dont sound like black musicians, if thats the theme :D but their great southern bands, except Scissorfight, their from New Hampshire...but still have that vibe

and speaking of bands that sound like someone else...NORTH MISSISSIPPI ALLSTARS. the singer is white dude but sounds like an older black musician...to me anyway. Check 'em out on the tube if you can. Po' Black Maddie is great song if you can find it.
