I agree with you. My best friends mom found what he did stupid, but I honestly liked it. Someday I'd love to do something similar to what Chris did... maybe not the exact same way, but very similar.

Lets have some respect for this man by not mentioning the conditions surrounding his death. But lets just admire his philosophy on the way he viewed what should be our actions as human beings, If you want something in life, reach out and grab it........

Stupid or courageous? This debate will continue forever. At least we are trying to define it now. Find your own definition and live by it. Maybe its safety. Maybe its recklessness. You decide. Thanks supertramp...

domestic birds sing about freedom, wild birds fly

I don't understand why people look at him negative. He did what HE wanted to do. He died a happy person. I don't see how that's wrong of him.

that maybe your view of the movie but from my perspective he wasn't a hero as such but it was more a message that there is more to life the being confined to the daily drudgery of life and earning the cash. You have to keep in mind peoples view on life. I don't think he went out there to become a hero and come back to society and say so but more to live life in the wild and experience what an increasing number of us never get to experience.

i agree that freedom isn´t always safety and security (i´m a biker, and have been for the last 28 years - understand?), but with freedom comes responsibility.
what Mc Candless did was basically commit suicide. o.k, that was maybe his free choice, but i fail to see how dieing from gross stupidity makes him some kind of hero. |
