Lance Armstrong took like everyone else back then EPO , no doubt and probably some other stuff to , that made him a great climber , Dr.Ferarri (Lance his trainingdoctor) has one of the badest reputations when it comes to doping , he said once in a interview that EPO could make a racehorse out of a donkey

You are right, Lance was a classic rider before his cancer. After, in 1998, Chris Carmichael convinced him to start training against a wattmeter instead of just pushing the hardest gear possible. Everyone laughed. Now EVERYONE trains low-gear/high-RPM against a wattmeter. Lance has more muscle per pound of total bodyweight than any rider but a sprinter, allowing him to become a great climber once he learned to spin a high RPM.
