Such a talent. Every time he touched the puck an end-to-ed rush always followed, with brilliant dekes around everyone on the ice.
A real rarity these days.

My God, Bobby really was a super star, you just dont see moves like that anymore!
Goalies really must have hated seeing Bobby get the puck!

lets not forget that Orr only played for 8 years and Gretzky played for 20. Oh and by the way...how the hell do u remember all these numbers??? itz freakin insane lol

The real stat..the one that wins games..the only stat that truly counts is this. While you are on the ice who scores and how much. While on the ice Gretzky has 3520 goals for 2285 against..a game average of .83 (1487 games). Orr has tgf of 1651 and tga of 781 for a 1.46 per game average (596 games, 66/67 n/a). Much of Gretzky's career he was a detriment to his team if there was no power play,Orr's numbers never came close to being inverted..Gretzky was horrid as a 2 way player for over 10 years

God, what talent. The best ever.

I wish there was that kinda open space and goaltending equipment today (they did make some adjustments). would make the gifted goalies stand out from the crowd and the gifted scorers dazzle. you know who though he doesn't mention him as an idol plays like orr? Mike Green. Most aggressive puckhandling defenseman in the league at like 22, has very soft hands for defense. The guy could be a great forward, although he's no orr.

lol ur absolutely right...gretzky had to score since he was a foward...but look at Orr...the freakin guy was a defensman but he basically played all positions because he was that good to do it..and lets not forget about his goals lol

No taking anything away from Orr but those early skaters are horrible and the goaltenders are a joke
EchoHawk509 (September 20, 2008 at 2:32 pm)
Simply put, Robert Gordon Orr changed the face of hockey forever. Which is something Gretzky never did
Wayne was an excellent player though had he played in Orr's era, he'd have been embarrassed. Being a forward it was expected Gretzky would score.
I've seen both of them play plenty of times and Orr walks (err, skates} away as the best in the game.

itz kinda weird when you think about it...Orr retires in 1978...and Gretzky starts his pro career in 1978...so itz like a great player retires and another great player starts his pro career |
