Absolutely it's possible. You can be what ever you want, it's an entire universe. Merchant's can make a lot of money. Pirating, PVP, CEO's, bounty hunters, fleet commanders, miners, manufacturers, researchers, etc... many many professions in eve.

you can pay for multiple months, that cost a bit cheaper, or buy game time cards with isk to offset some of the subscriptions. Whats 15$, three less fast food meals a month.

i know what you mean,i had the same sort of experince started off, but got lost and confused straight away. but didnt have the paintence at the time to work out how to really play. so just went back to wow lol.
