That's because he was always a single bass drummer until much later in his career. He does it for show. He is much better on one bass drum anyway. I saw ELP many times from 1971 on and he always used only one in those days. He only needs on. Two take away from his impact.

What you've gotta see is him in ELP. You can really see his creativity and inventiveness. This Video is just fast, loud crap

He is one of the top drummers but this doesen't show his drumming quality! It's just skill, no artistic feeling! Still one of the best, along others like John Bonham, Keith Moon....

One of the best? I'm just not seeing it....sorry folks. It doesn't flow or have any direction to me. Yeah, he's got skills but he doesn't seem to go anywhere. Not very creative compared to a few others that rank up there.
