Mercedes had a hydraulic self closing trunk on the 600 Pullman's which came out in the late 60's.
How are those live rear axles and drum brakes treating you? Mercedes hasn't used those since the 50's.

I love mercedes but the 600sel is a piece of shit, and when it breaks down you'd better love driving loaners because that fucker is going to be in the shop constantly. better off getting a w124 and shipping it to botttrop and having them slap a v12 in it.

the less than 20000 dollar 1987 pontiac firebird had a self closing trunk,that means mercedes is behind pontiac in technology lol
