If you follwed the exchange of my texts with the quasi penpal, you will realize why I responded the way I did.
Chopin composed 27 (surprise!)piano etudes. Twenty four of those etudes were published before his demise.

Richter = God...
He didn't use pedal which was what Chopin wanted!

Chopin wrote 24 etudes...Didn't you know?These 24 etudes comprise of Op.10 and Op.25 which have 12 etudes each...

You are "up to 18"? Is this your age? There is no "18" among the etudes of Chopin. Be sure to record and/or video your progress, and share the moment with all of us. The "New Etudes"? Perhaps, these are his new "Ethereal Etudes", Opus 18. Mr. Chopin has continued to compose these etudes for so many years. By a recording of all the Chopin Etudes (including the "New" Ethereal Etudes opus 18), and continue to be enlightened and inspired. Your father was referring to his laundry in a clothes basket.

Funny you should mention that. I'm currently attempting to learn all 24 (not counting the New Etudes). I'm up to 18 if you count the ones I've finished, the ones that I previously finished and the ones that are works in progress.
The Revolutionary was the piece that initially got me serious about the piano when I was 13. My father said that if I learned it he would go to the middle of Congress Street in Portland, Maine and drop his pants.

Be not concerned with "easy" nor difficulty. Just learn to play it well, at your highest level. The Preludes and Fugues of J.S. Bach have the same dexterity benefits.
It is a bonus if you can read the music and play the piano. Or learn to play this-by way of the Suzuki method.
A piano professor said to me "if you can play all the Chopin Etudes, you can play anything". My response to him "If you can play all the Chopin etudes, you have played everything". Listen to all the Chopin Etudes, joy!

This piece is much less difficult than it sounds, but easy it isn't, at least not if you want to play it up to professional standards. Then again, if that's your aim, are there any easy pieces?

God he owned the piece! |
