Opel Flextreme Concept Unveiling at IAA

Opel, a division of General Motors (GM), has unveiled Flextreme, an eco-friendly concept car designed to emit less than 40 grams per kilometer of carbon dioxide. The electric vehicle, which debuted at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, Germany, is built upon E-Flex, GM's electric vehicle architecture, and uses a lithium-ion battery that can run up to 55 kilometers (km) at a time. Flextreme also incorporates versatile storage space via its rear-hinged back doors, transparent roof, tailgate doors and luggage compartment located beneath the vehicle's floor. Prior to its European debut in Frankfurt, the Flextreme was presented at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2007, with a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine that can run on E85, and then again at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2007, as an electric concept car with hydrogen fuel cell propulsion. The concept car presented in Frankfurt contains two engines: a battery-operated engine and a 1.3-liter CDTI diesel engine.

and here i thought they were gonna be serious about building a hybrid car. no, those headlights would be hard as hell to build and do not spell economy... they would not be cheap, they would not use less material, etc.

This is wild. They should tone it down about 10%, but leave much of it as-is. And yes, build it IMMEDIATELY. Teasing the public with electric and hybrid cars has become a hobby for GM. They rarely build them, despite their eco-friendly advertising.
