2008 Paris Auto Show Highlights by Edmunds Inside Line

To certain people (we'll call them women), going to Paris in the fall means shopping on the Champs-Élysées, nibbling on pastries at sidewalk cafes and taking in the sights of one of the world's most beautiful cities. That's all fine and good, but when we head to the City of Lights this October it will be for one thing and one thing only: the 2008 Paris Auto Show. With no competition from Frankfurt or Tokyo, the Paris auto show is the only game in town this fall, so there are guaranteed to be several world premieres at the Porte de Versailles convention center. It should be a mix of everything from small and efficient to expensive and powerful. GM has already promised a firsthand look at the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, a small sedan that will go on sale in Europe next year. Not to be outdone in the efficiency game, Honda will unveil an all-new hybrid sedan aimed directly at the Toyota Prius. With a base price under $20,000, it's designed to bring hybrid technology to the masses. On the more expensive side, we'll see the Ferrari California and the 2009 BMW 7 Series. The BMW will be joined by an ActiveHybird version of this car as well as the 3 Series refresh and a concept version of the X1 compact SUV.
