As I said in another post, passive safety is in direct relation to chassis engineering. So, the newer, the better. In these older models cabin compartment is not designed to withstand the extra forces of an offset impact, nor the front is conceived to absorb them before they deform the passenger cell. No airbags would have saved the driver, nor maybe the rear passenger behind him. Sad, but true.

the old ones are struckturaly solid the new ones are also solid with more absorption, neither car my '91 volvo 940T with a air bag or a brand new s60 would deliver some one from that alive all the safety stuff is for slower speeds
