He was my favorite F1 driver ever. Saw him drive at the 1st ever USA Caesar's Palace F1 Grand Prix. Followed his son's career Jacques after that; nowhere the talent of his father, nor the charisma. R.I.P. Gilles.

There's nothing the drivers can do, there's specialized staff on track, marshalls and doctors who know what to do best. If drivers stopped on track it would just endanger the whole situation more than needed.

la morte purtroppo avveni'a causa della grave lesione del tronco encefalico e della rottura e distacco delle vertebre cervicali, con fuoriuscita del midollo osseo. i medici dissero che anche se fosse riuscito a sopravvivere sarebbe rimasto paralizzato dal collo in giu'. la ferrari in quel punto viaggiava a 260 km all'ora e lui venne catapultato fuori dall'abitacolo con il sedile e le cinture di sicurezza divelte dalla violenza dell'impatto.
