second half:
And as far as I cannot mod a game on a console, I wont play with consoles.
I'd like to think about gaming as a dynamic form of art, so if I cannot tinker around with a game (at least customize the keyboard layout and the display), I feel really passive.
The reason why most pc games feel bad about especially modern day consoles, is the reason, that the US market nowadays lacks pc exclusives, and there are types of games, that just doesn't work well on consoles.

You seem to have a point there.
I think of myself as a die hard PC gamer, and never liked consoles.
But beyond the emotional tie towards computers (most games I like are typically computer games. Andventurte, RPG, RTS, FPS, simulation, and straty titles, aren't working very well on consoles in my experience. And computer games ARE NOT FROM JAPAN. At least most of them aren't.), there is a much more logical reason. At least in my case:) following up:

While your argument for brand recognition is certainly valid on the general level, the theme of this video is emotional attachment - it's about the personal, not the fashionable.
The woman wouldn't defend Gucci against a new invading brand if she could easily afford both.
My example: Ever wonder why so many seasoned PC gamers feel animosity towards modern consoles? For many of them PC was the NES of their childhood! And now the Evil Consoles are stealing their games and dumbing them down.

when i first saw this it was 5 days after my dad passed away and made me feel truely emotional at the point where you talk about dealing with things changing like death. it really is hard to deal about changes that are going to happen.

Of all these videos, I find this the most true, but I was never able to explain it. I feel like I need to cry.

Totally agreeable, but a little narrow.
It's the BRAND itself that sells the product most times, So it's not surprising at all, that nintendo fans love nintendo overall, and not just the games or so.
It's quite like when you see a woman coming by, with a little pink storage device under her arm. -A bag!- you'd say, or "purse" if you're really precise.
But you're wrong. for her, it's probably a "Gucci".
She's attached to the brand, even though she probably didn't grow up as a die-hard gucci fan.
