fraizer57 - First off, I don't know if I can trust a source that calls its opponents terrorists and thugs just because of your opinion on this issue. What diplomacy for the last 30 years are you talking about? the support of Europe and US for Saddam Hussein to kill as many Iranians as possible!!! By direct democracy, I mean go and sit with them and see what they are seeking, how else would you go around this problem? They do not respond to sanctions as we have seen. What do YOU say we do?

As for the Shah, You are either misinformed or taken in by the BBC, far left liberal media the Mullahs propoganda system. What happened in Iran was a very well orchestrated conspiracy by Carter the Brits to turn the clock back on Iran. Read Hostage to Khomeini by Robert Dreyfuss or be fooled for ever.

You can't claim that Shah was not a dictator and that the US did the right thing by intervening in this matter. In fact, Shah was such a bad dictator that got overthrown after a couple of years and people were desperate for a different regime and democracy that they had no choice, but accepting the current regime, but that's just history and cannot be changed nor could it be undone. What Iran least needs right now is a regime change. The solution to Iran is primarily direct diplomacy, right now.

thunt1294, You are misinformed. According to 1906 constituion, the Shah appoints fires all primeministers. The Shah was Iran's king since 1941. Mosadegh was the servant of the Pahlavis since 1923 so how in 1953 could Mosadegh be replaced by the Shah for that no Primeministers were ever elected in my country since 1906. Get your facts right. What is taboo in the west is the role the Brits Jimmy Carter played in overthrewing the Shah of Iran. Read "Hostage to Khomeini" by Robert Dreyfuss.

thunt1294, Mosadegh was not democratic far from it. History is written by the victors. In oprder to appease the Mullahs the west has totaly misrepresented the event of 1959. A reigning King does not need a staged coup since he is already in power unless there is a coup against him.What happened than was a coup by Mosadegh on Aug 15th.Mosadegh disobayed king's constitutional dicree. 2 days later the people, Mullahs, Bazaries the army staged a counter coup. American did not have time to do it.

fraizer57, why do you think that Iran captured American hostages in the 1970's or attacked American soldiers in 1983? Possibly, it's because in 1953 the US-backed CIA removed a DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED ruler from office and put a dictator in his place? They don't hate us because we're free or powerful. They hate us because we have a foreign policy of interventionism. These are alot of large words. Simply put: if we leave them the fuck alone, they will do the same for us. Feel free to reply.

Fountain...isn't it sad. He is probably THE MOST AMERICAN and some American's make him seem like he is some nut. If anything...HIS POSITIVE AND HUMANE attitude and HONOR and LOVE FOR AMERICANS should be enough to salute him and respect him.
