silver spoons and punky brewster would end in '86 the year this special aired, Gimme a break had one more year to it before it was canceled, 227 four more, and Golden Girls had six successful years ahead. miss this part of the 80's. how appropriate though. nell carter was slated to play effie in the original dreamgirls. while they were in workshop she left to take a soap job in cali.
