I have heard this too but don't get too excited. If I understand correctly, they will NOT be re-inserted into the movies as an 'Ultimate, Super Extended Edition' version of the films. Rather, you will get the same versions of the films as the current extended cuts along with a 'deleted scenes' section in the supplemental material. As a die hard fan of the films I do insanely hope that I am wrong and what they release turns out to indeed be a SUPER extended edition!!! Come on Jackson!! Woohoo :)

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of ignorance displayed in some of these comments!! The flaming 'lidless eye' wasn't Sauron! It was the EYE of Sauron. Sauron himself was a dis-embodied Maier spirit who dwelt in the tower of Barad-'Dur. The eye was a sort of black magic, if you will, in order to gaze out over Mordor.

My gosh with the purists... I read the books too... (Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Silmarillion, and buts and pieces of the other ones) I think Jackson did an excellent job personally. You can't expect every little thing to be exactly like it was in the book or you'd have a thirty hour long, boring as hell movie that nobody wants to watch. Film is a different art form than literature. Not every single detail was precise, but 90% of them were, which is more than most movies based of books maintain.

These films were probably the best adaptations of books ever.

well i dont see any reson to have a duel between sauron and aragorn because its not in the book and aragorn would have stand no change.. but to show him as an eye was bullshit to Gollum clearly says that sauron has 9 fingers on his hands....hard to have hands if your only an eye.But nothing is so stupid in this movies as the portrate of aragorn...the unvilling king, in the books thats his only perpus of aragorn going on the journey,to become king so he can marry arwen..peter jakson is a jerk!

I am glad that Sauron did not come forth. It defeats the point of his character, which is the evil lord working in the shadows. Not only that, but if Sauron had actually come forthhe would have creamed everyone.

the idea was great, but didn't really co-operate with the book

it would have been cool but I'm glad they didn't add it |
