thanks for the link, fascinating stuff. i will be using it in my dissertation, although i do still feel that his predictions hold allot of assumptions, yet his figures do strongly support his theory's. try reading straw dogs by John Gray, its a very interesting take on the same subject from a far more philosophical perspective.

Our goals may change but the acceleration of technology is an exponential increase. Watch Ray Kurzweil's talk from the TED talks site then tell me what you think. He explains it more eloquently than I can.

it is coming in one form or anoter, but i garantee that neither you nor i will see it in our lifetime. technolagies that far fetched will take centuries to be developed into commercially viable products. and plus the vast majority of futuristic visions change so rappidly that we often begin aiming for new higher goals....for example 50 or so years ago people thought wed be day tripping to the moon by now, now we are far more preoccupied with developing computer and infomation technolagies.
