Arms sloppy!! Go get a life and when you do, don't post dumb comments like that on you tube again. This is perhaps the most famous ballerina of all time and you say her arms are sloppy and you like other versions better!!! You are weird

her arms are sloppy? what are you, crazy? their technique was perfect. and they both did like, 25 turns on releve. this was absolutly, one of THE best dances.

this is old stuff. i like many other versions better than this. her arms are just sloppy. I like lopatkina's odette, her odile can be meaner. however, she's terrific.

what are you talking about

I agree, you cannot compare a legend, a prima ballerina abssoluta, like Margot Fontteyn, with lopatkina or zakharova.....
it is not fair for them!! Dame Margot is Divine!

This is probably the most easily recognised clip for swan lake. Nureyev is just ideal and Fonteyn also. Dame Margot clearly demonstrates here why she was Prima Ballerina Assoluta. If you like this, you will certainly like Maya Plisetskaya's dancing in Swan Lake. The modern day ballerinas cannot match the musicality and class of the greats like Alonso, Ulanova, Legnani, Pavlova, Plisetskaya, Bessmertnova, and of course Fonteyn.

I meant the more modern dancers
ps I think this is the bourmeister version, or some people call it the "original" version
zakharova performs this version too!

You can't compare her with more the ballerinas now. The technique has evolved, so obviously if you want to compare technique, I have to say that Zakharova (for example) is better, but if you're comparing artistry, that's a different matter

Actually, I think Nureyev was still alive when she started dancing. Even then, he was too old, but he would probably not have wanted to dance with Lopatkina or Zakharova after the kind of partnership he had with Fonteyn. |
