Thats what is for my opinion true metal bands: Black Sabbath , Iron Maiden, Metallica and a lot of Stoner and Doom Metal Bands like Saint Vitus, Witchfinder General, Kyuss, Sleep, High on Fire, Om, Spirit Caravan... True Metal doesnt gotta be hard and aggressive; it can also be so soft and melodic; the most important thing is that it is well composed and passionful and innovative or on the same level like former sounds especially from the Seventies.
