Technics SY-1010

Here is a demonstration of the extremely rare 1979 Technics SY-1010. One of the smallest analog synths with full sized keys. Despite its simple appearance, it boasts a decent amount of functionality, and a warm sound. Soundtrack by Automatic Gainsay. Feel free to link to this video or post it on your page, but please give me credit by marking it "by Marc Doty." Thanks!

Hmm, that's about what I sold mine for, actually... but remember that it has a pretty limited oscillator section...

Hey. do you think picking one up in mint condition for 700nz is good deal? nice vid

Cool, thanks for the info!

actually, the Roland System 100 has one too. ;)
AutomaticGainsay (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Nope. The only other synth I can think of with a tuning oscillator is the Minimoog!

I like how you worked with the oscillators from 1:20-1:50. Can you do that on a Roland SH-101?
elextrixtechnixtree (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
now that is fucking cool..
AutomaticGainsay (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
There is no sound bank. No presets. No patch memory. No MIDI. Just 100% programmable analog.

thats amazing!! is there only its own sound bank or does it have the option to be a controller (midi) for say a ableton/reason bank? i guess my question is, obv from this video you can see that it has its own bank but can it be used as a midi controller too to control virtual instruments. please let me know. thats awesome tho!

Was this before Technics went into the home organ market?
