The word gay is currently used to describe the definition of homosexual, in other words; gay is another term for saying homosexual: which is having an attraction towards a member/person of the same gender. There is nothing wrong in being homosexual and Freddie Mercury was clearly gay which is fine. However, considering the way you said "it doesn't exist", I take it as an offence since it's a way of stating that no one is gay because it's wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm offended
