It was recorded by Cher, I have heard it. However, I'm not sure if it was released at the time. Before Cher starts to sing, you can hear Sonny going ...badada-dada... Maybe it was just a demo.

This song was written for Jackie De Shannon, no-one recorded it before her. She was the original and still the best.

Jackie is a gr8 songwriter and performer...
gr8 version of this Sonny Bono tune...Jackie wrote 'Walk in the room'...never knew she sang 2 songs that The Searchers also covered, as well as writing one of them..very underrated performer.

The video is from a show called "Where the action is" that ran from 1965 to 1967. It aired in the afternoons. By '66 it was decidedly behind the times. Jackie DeShannon is lip-syncing, not live.
