Yes but scientists, unlike everyone else, constantly modify their knowledge based on new discoveries. They (taken as a set) don't have any sacred book or authority that cannot be challenged. So while no one may ever know the whole truth, scientists are the only ones that will come close. We don't argue about Santa, and we really should do better than argue about god.
