and if no other companies follow it, they must be blind and stupid since there is clearly a demand for the X6. all 40,000 set for production this year were sold out for a few months now.

oh, the X5 was made cuz BMW saw that some people liked to drive their SUVs on the road more than off road. and plus, some people used their SUVs in the winter for their 4 wheel drive. and some used their suvs cuz they liked being higher than everyone else. so the X5 came in as an "on-road" suv that can be quick, handle like a sports car, and carry loads of stuff. and when nature threw some slippery conditions at it X-Drive kicked in and kept the vehicle under control- the Sports Activity Vehicle

u said the X5 was a new type of vehicle. It wasnt, it was just an SUV. The x6 is a new type but i cant see anyone else following, its awful.

what are SUVs for? lots of space, lots of people, lots of ground clearence.
what are coupes for. sportiness, who cares about storage, good luck fitting passengers.
what SUV cuts sotrage space, cuts the amount people, and has a true coupe roofline? none. thats why this creates a new category- the SAC. mixing coupe with SUV. height of an suv, and the characteristics of a coupe. 4 seater, coupe roofline, and whatever you fit in there, good for you. ive noticed suvs have roofracks, this doesnt.

Calling an SUV a different name does not make it a new type of vehicle. The X5 is an SUV and nothing more. An SUV with appaling off road ability at that. To suggest they invented that kind of vehicle is ridiculous, whats a land rover, land cruiser, range rover, etc been doing for 30+ years?
Asa7 (July 25, 2008 at 4:09 am)
well, 40,000 people already did, since every one of the X6s are sold out.
Asa7 (July 25, 2008 at 4:05 am)
the Infiniti FX35 is classified as a crossover SUV. the X6 is in its own category as an SAC- Sports Activity Coupe.
LOOK AT THE DAMN PROFILE SHOT OF AN FX35! just because the windows shoot down after the B-Pillar doesnt mean the roofline does. take a close look and the FX35 is like all other SUVs. the X6 is completely different in the fact that the roofline dramatically slopes down after the B-Pillar, not just the windows. the infiniti and no other suv do that!

in 1999 they created the Sports Activity Vehicle with the BMW X5.
and in 2008 they created the Sports Activity Coupe with the BMW X6. |
