Japanese People are Unimpressed with your Japanese

READ THIS BEFORE YOU HATE: So, a lot of you don't like this video. Understandable. Here's a few things to keep in mind: 1. Take some of it with a grain of salt. For entertainment purposes, I exaggerated. Still, I believe that the core of what I said is true (more on this later). Of course, not all Japanese people are like this. There are other things, such as being polite, etc., that play a big factor. 2. Yes, I did research. I'm not pulling stuff out of a hat. I read a book by a linguist that studied the relationships of languages in Japan, and a big chunk covered this topic. The author is Japanese. I also discussed this with a native Japanese professor with a masters in Linguistics. She also agrees. I agree. This is where my information is coming from. 3. Many Japanese are telling me "nobody believes in nihonjinron theories." This is definitely not true. I am not criticizing, I am reporting. This is the sort of thing you have to research from the outside. I'm probably going to get in trouble for this, but things like a) Male / Female language (how many Japanese believe it is a thousands of year old tradition, when it actually came from Meiji school girls who were trying to be different), b) Where Japanese came from originally (many Japanese still won't believe that they immigrated from China/Korea), what happened during WWII (very different accounts on Japan's side and everyone else's side), etc are all examples of nihonjinron theories that are still thought of as common sense even today. I'm not criticizing, I really don't care. I'm just saying that this is no different. In fact, it's even less controversial. 4. Either way, you can believe what you want. That's what's so great about Youtube. Please don't criticize me for not doing research, because I definitely have. Thank you for listening!
