中國大陸四川省昨日發 規模七．八強烈地震，國內地震學者指出，四川強震震央位於大陸南北向主要地震構造帶，被中國當局列為地震重點研究區域。由於該構造帶沿線斷層密布，昨日強震發生後，對岸學者應較擔心是否會造成「連動」，引發連鎖強震。
相關學者指出，受限 時空隔閡，國內學者對大陸的地震活動及地殼構造大多有了解、但不深入。
根據各國昨日透過網 公布的觀測資料研判，四川強震震源區應位於從四川綿延到雲南，再延伸到中南半島的南北向地震構造帶上。這條地震構造帶在中國大陸早已「惡名昭彰」，自一九八九年至今，多次發生規模六以上強震，尤其一九八九年四月到九月間，這個地區一直動個不停。
